Different rummy formats offer their own set of challenges and opportunities to players. While it is all fun and games (pun intended), RummyCulture saw the need for an upgrade. A new format of rummy, if you will. And thus came PowerPlay.

If you’re a player on RummyCulture, you would already have seen PowerPlay in the tournament section in your lobby. It stands out from the other rummy tournaments for various reasons, such as its quick gameplay, no wait times between rounds, rejoin feature etc. In this blog, we will discuss everything about this new format and its different variations.

What is PowerPlay?

PowerPlay is a new format of rummy that maximises winnings for players in the least amount of time. It’s fun, it’s full of action, it’s fast.

PowerPlay offers the thrill of cash games with the winnings of a tournament. There are no deals in PowerPlay, instead it has levels. Each player starts with a fixed number of points, which makes the starting stack. The stack will increase with each deal that you win, and reduce if you lose or drop. Ultimately, your stack at the end of all levels determines your rank and prize.

It offers a smoother, faster experience to the players alongside many features unavailable in tournaments:

Non-stop gameplay

If you’re one of those players who hate waiting, then PowerPlay is perfect for you. As mentioned, PowerPlay has levels instead of rounds. Each level lasts for a fixed amount of time, within which you can play many games to increase your stack. If you don’t feel confident with your hand in one game, you can drop and instantly move to another table; there is virtually no wait time. This way, you don’t have to be stuck in a game and risk getting even higher penalty points. At any point, your stack will determine if you move forward (if you have enough points for the next level), or if you get eliminated.

Guaranteed prize pool

In other tournaments, the prize pool is variable and depends on the number of players joining in. The fewer the players, the lower the pool. PowerPlay on the other hand ensures a guaranteed prize pool, which means the prize pool remains unaffected no matter how many players join in. Pretty great, right?

Multiple opportunities to win

PowerPlay offers a rejoin feature to players in case they get eliminated. They can simply pay the Buy-In again and get back in the game. The best part? Your starting stack resets when you rejoin. This offers players the opportunity to push the restart button and maximise their winning potential.

Late entry

We get it, sometimes players get busy and miss joining their favourite tournaments on time. But PowerPlay isn’t an ordinary format and allows for late entry. The time limit for late entry differs for each PowerPlay tournament; you can find this information under individual tournament details. Do note that PowerPlay itself lasts for a fixed duration, so if a player joins late they don’t get any extra time beyond the limit.

Multiple games in a day

Starting from 9am, there is a PowerPlay rummy tournament every hour, every day. There are many different variations of PowerPlay that players can choose to play based on their preferred Buy-In. The beauty of PowerPlay is in the fact that it caters to all players. It has free variants, as well as those where the winner takes home ₹2 lakh in a matter of 2 hours.

PowerPlay ranges from free variants and goes all the way to a Buy-In of up to ₹10,000. In your lobby, you will have access to all these games. PowerPlay is also evolving every day, so keep an eye out for new games as well.
